Cool. Too bad the US will never implement those programs, but if the anti-choice movement will get behind it, it can only help.

I couldn't find the post where this goes, but I remember you asking about this.

Deflation.

Sounds like a good thing to me.

Yeah, I think their claim to be moving towards a more socialist model is about as credible as my claim to have invented it, but I'm taking my small victories where I can find them.

Re: deflation, I must be living in a completely different economic reality than everyone else. Never occurred to me that deflation might cause enough people to postpone purchases that it would be a problem, because that doesn't exist in my reality. All my only-if-the-price-is-right purchases are either electronics (which always decline in price over time) or things that are fashion-dependent (which have to be purchased before completely different merchandise comes in next season). And apparently housing and food are still going up, which is where I feel it the most anyway.

Ya gotta.

Mine's the same as yours. I don't have fashion purchases, but right now I need a new office chair, and I need it, so I have to buy it, period.

Me too. But why are they? Food prices should be coming down.

I seem to remember reading that food prices were originally up because corn is being used for ethanol (taking up both corn that could be used for food and farmland that could be used to grow food) and because of fuel prices. (Although isn't fuel coming back down now?) I also think I read something about how Canada's high dollar was insulating us from a lot of the impact of higher food prices, so now that our dollar is dropping we might be feeling the food prices.

But that's from memory and without googling, so I might be way off.
