Things They Should Invent: custom-made birth control pills

Picture this:

They take some blood, analyze its hormone content, then use that information to come up with the doses that will work best for you - either by choosing from commercially available pills or by compounding a new one. They could consult with the patient on the desired side effects and proceed accordingly.

Doesn't that sound like a much better system?

It takes an intelligent woman to come up with this brilliant solution. If we can use blood tests to design a personal weight loss programme and monitor our cholesterol levels, it's about time we had a blood test that can be used to design a personal, low dose birth control method.

There are only a few ingredients in hormonal contraceptives so how hard can it be to get the dosage or the combination right for each of us? At least it would cut down on the trial and error periods with a variety of pills OR confirm that hormonal birth control is not for us at all.

You've got my support on this one -Well done!
