After the stars leave, or at least the people who created the role, who the songs were likely written for, then the shows run with many other casts, sometimes dozens of casts over many, many years. The "original soundtrack" label tells you that you are hearing Donna McKechnie singing "What I Did For Love," not Jane Nobody.
