A poll
How many people do you know personally who have had to use homeowner's or renter's insurance to replace possessions that were stolen or destroyed in a fire or some other disaster?
I was just pondering how often people actually need to cash in on this. I know precisely one household who has ever had to make a claim for destroyed possessions. Given that I haven't actually furnished my apartment out of my own pocket yet (all my furniture was from the parental home or other benefactors), I figure I'll wait until I have one disaster and actually pay to furnish my home before insuring anything. It's certainly not worth the trouble of making a list of EVERYTHING I own!
