How to get an abortion in South Dakota

They are setting up an abortion clinic on the Pine Ridge Sioux Reservation.

Here's how to make a donation

This has been a public service announcement.

I wonder what the people on Pine Ridge think of their tribal president devoting her time and energy to this project?

One of my friends used to be a teacher in a town not far from that reservation and the pressing needs there could fill a few pages. I suspect an abortion clinic is well down on the list for the typical resident.

I don't fault the people who want to donate, because their emotions are heartfelt. But many of those commenting on the LJ you linked obviously have no clue about Pine Ridge, or about South Dakota, in general. The handful of people who have attempted to fill them in on the realities are branded racists and/or trolls. Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

Although even if an abortion clinic is the last thing they need, in the literal sense, (i.e. they could use it, but they need seven thousand other things more urgently) that would not negate the fact that it's doing a great service to the state as a whole.
