Anyone out there know US military uniform regulations?
Whenever US military people are on TV game shows, they wear their uniform. Are they required to do this, or are they just doing it by choice?

According to my nephew, who is in the Marines, they are not required to wear their uniforms when they are not on the base.
He said the dress uniform often worn on game shows is considered appropriate for events where a civilian man might wear a suit or a civilian woman a nice dress. He wore his dress uniform to church when he was home at Christmas time, for example.
Apparently the game show contestants do this by choice, to show they are in the military.
