I'm finding myself tempted to buy a purple jacket (for outerwear), but I'm hesitant. The colour looks really good on me, as deep jewel tones usually do, but I always think twice about wearing purple because so few people do wear it. Is that just because purple doesn't look good on many people, or is it an old lady colour, or is there some other reason?
The word purple looks really funny now.

I love purple, but I don't think I have anything except maybe a teeshirt or two. I don't think it's an old lady color--oh maybe certain shades of lavender but I say if you look good in the color and the coat's style is flattering to you, and you feel good when you put it on, then you should have it!
But that's just me; I can justify any purchase at anytime--especially th "feel good" purchases!
i think it might have something to do with the "purple coat, red hat" ladies. i wear purple though.
