If you get arrested, can you leave a note?

On the TV show I'm watching, the police come by and arrest this guy when his wife isn't home. It's a calm and civilized arrest and he goes along quietly without protest. However, he doesn't leave a note for his wife or anything. So she's going to come home and find her husband missing and have no idea where he went (she couldn't have guessed he was going to be arrested.)

So IRL, if you're arrested, do they let you leave a note so your family or household isn't wondering where you went? I know you're supposed to get one phone call, but that's for a lawyer. What if you need to arrange for someone to pick your kids up or something? I mean, even if you are under arrest, that's no reason to leave your kids stranded somewhere.

I don't think they let you leave a note. If you have a family, you use your one phone call to call your family, and they call a lawyer for you. Most people don't have a lawyer's name and phone number with them anyway, and it's not like they're going to let you Google for one.

So if you are someone who has a lawyer, call the lawyer and they'll call your family. If not, the other way around.

That's my guess.

That is very complicated. They need to give people more information ahead of time. I think the getting arrested process (at least based on what I've seen on TV) seems to assume that people know exactly what happens when you get arrested, like they do this every day like the cops do.
